2019-2020 Centre for Counselling & Community Safety Course Dates
Through JIBC's Centre for Counselling and Community Safety, practitioners gain the essential skills to protect, support and empower children, youth, adults, families and communities. The Centre's practical and relevant training is designed for working professionals, including directors, managers, front line staff and supervisors in counselling and community safety roles.
JIBC offers leading-edge programs for counsellors and therapists that assist individuals, employees and families coping with a wide range of challenges that include Aboriginal trauma, critical incident stress, complex trauma, substance use, and child sexual abuse.
Whether taking a single course or an entire program, you will learn proven techniques and strategies essential to healing people affected by traumatic life situations.
All courses and certificates are available for customized / contract training and development.

Nancy Poole is a national leader in creating and advocating change initiatives, training curricula and guidelines in trauma-informed practice. Nancy will deliver a one-day special event on how to build a trauma-informed organization. Trauma-informed practice involves shifts in our approaches to interactions with service users, worker wellness, organizational culture and practices, interagency and community engagement. This special event will focus on the components of becoming a trauma-informed organization and provide examples of social service, health, and other organizations that have put these changes into place.
